One of Jackson Kayak’s most popular fishing kayaks now gets the upgrades of both its HD predecessors, the Coosa HD and Cuda HD in the Big Rig HD/FD with the addition of Flex Drive 3D pedaling power. The FD is compatible with our Flex Drive E motor giving users a truly hands-free fishing experience, where the rudder controls return to foot control and our battery will take you anywhere you want to go. Our High Hi-Lo Ergo Seat Frame with MOLLE System includes infinite fore-aft trimming and the unique Big Rig rod troughs are doubled up with TWO rod tubes on both sides of the bow. The Big Rig FD’s new rod staging system lets you set down and snap up your rods at a moments’ notice, and the rod tubes can also accommodate fly rods up to 9′ in length with fly reel geometry behind the seat. Jackson Kayak’s use of track systems remain throughout giving you flexibility in setting up for the day of fishing and our hulls are molded for Raymarine and Power-Pole readiness. Storage is upgraded throughout the Big Rig FD with hatches updated to new rotating latches.

Starting with the upper unit (A), we’ve upgraded the bearings (B) so they are optimized while spinning at relatively low RPM (ideal for pedaling or while using a 12V battery setup with our Flex Drive E). The fit of the crank arm (C) is now more secure and easier to deploy. The spider coupling (D) has been updated to include a time-released lubricant and provides a more secure mating of upper and lower units. We’ve also added easy-access grease ports (E) and a grease accessory kit, which includes a tube of Finish Line grease and a grease gun to make maintenance a breeze. We’ve upgraded the pedal crank arms (F) from cast to forged aluminum, increasing durability.

The Karma adds more hull speed into and out of drops that carry you past … well things you don’t want anything to do with. The Karmas huge sidewalls lend to great secondary stability, plus it keeps you drier and faster. Water shedding deck makes for a predictable resurfacing. We’ll be using the Karma for some of our harder river racing. Why? Well this is directly due to the shape of the hull rocker, hull, and dry bow. Fast, stable, and forgiving this crazy great design turns predictably, nails boofs, and floats over most things in its way with speed and grace.
