Anyway, I have a 2004 or 2005 9.8 Nissan/Tohatsu and I need to change the engine oil. In the Autumn, I had the engine winterized, but the place that did that wouldn't change the engine oil unless I paid them an addition $80.00. From what I understand, which isn't much, changing the engine oil on outboards is a pretty straight forward process; I read with interest the similar topic about the Honda outboard.

Please pardon my absent-mindedness, but I had intended on grabbing my owner's manual before I left the house today, which I think would have answered this question. However, I forgot; something which happens rather frequently with me.
Long story short, my question is this. do I need to purchase an oil extraction pump, similar to what I read about on the Honda Oil Change thread? I'd like to stop off at the local West Marine store if it is determined that I can change the oil in that manner. more

. and look at pages 15 and 16 and see it that doesn't help. I think the link is for the 5 hp, but the 4,5 and 6 are all the same engine, different carb. Or go here.

It takes a 10 mm socket/wrench and be ready for a lot of oil to come out, ask me how I know. I fumbled getting the drain bolt right back in and had to add oil to the the engine and then slightly overfilled it . Check the level with the dip stick screwed back in according to manual.
