Not the sender- that was not tricky at all, but the limit switch.
How do you do it? I've read it is done by measurement of the rams, and after raising it from fully down- but. yeah, that didn't work. I have to use my tilt (trailer) to get my trim to full on plane position. I can make it work- I trust myself enough, but what if someone else is at the helm and relying on that gauge? I don't wan't someone to go north of trim and into tilt while the boat is underway. more

Trim Sender Switches Replacing Your Limit And [links]
Possible Symptom 1: Your Trailer-Up Switch will raise the drive OK but the TRIM Switch does not work.
Possible Symptom 2: Your Trim gauge does not work.
Fix: Replace the Trim Limit and Trim Sender Switch's.
Once you feel that the bellows are fully in place, hold it there for 5 minutes to let the glue set-up.
Now take your 1/4" ratchet set with a long long extension and a swivel 5/16" socket on the end and snug up the clamp.
Inspect carefully to make SURE the clamp is straight and in place.
DON'T over tighten the clamp!! [links]
After the wires pass into the boat from the outside they go to two different places.

Your trim gauge will show you the position of the outdrive relative to full down. These can be adjusted but for the most part are pretty accurate. What does the needle on the trim gauge show with your outdrive raised fully?

I will add one other possibility. If you drive starts high when you leave the water (trimmed all the way to its limit) and then lowers a little on its way home when it rubs the driveway, then you may need to rebuild your piston seals. I realize this is unlikely, but if you have reason to believe that your drive is not fully raised when you're traversing your driveway, I thought I'd put it out there.
