Living for almost 4 years in Rauba-Capeù, the giant hashtag #ILoveNice has become a symbol and a must for taking snaps in Nice. Choose where you want to take your Instagram photo! There’s #ILoveNice early in the morning, where the 3 colours – blue, white, and red – are particularly vivid and form the perfect picture with the sea and mountains in the background. And there’s #ILoveNice at the end of the day. « I like to photograph it at that time because there’s a perfect play of light and shadow for composing a picture that will create a unique memory of the city of Nice and the Côte d’Azur!”

In the series of not-to-be-missed instagrammable spots in Nice, you’ll fall in love with the famous Colline du Château and its unique contrast of the sea, the city of Nice and the mountains. For the best shots, go to the Colline du Château either from the sea front by taking the Quai des Etats-Unis steps, or for the less sporty the lift from rue des Ponchettes. You can also get there from Nice’s Old Town. When the first snows appear at the end of November, and the weather is still fine in Nice, the setting is magnificent! Another option is to go to Mont-Boron. You will then have the complete trio: azure sea, Nice and the snow-topped mountains. And that’s also what the Côte d’Azur is all about! more

Although not strictly on the Riviera (because it’s a separate country), Monaco still deserves a mention. A visit to Monte Carlo offers gorgeous beaches, waterside paths with dramatic views over the water and rugged mountainous surrounds, and vibrant nightlife. Visit famous sights such as the Monte-Carlo Casino. The lavish Belle Époque building dates back to 1863 and has appeared in classic films like To Catch a Thief and Never Say Never Again. Then, visit the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, and explore Monaco’s museums including the Musée Oceanographique. Don’t forget to visit the Princess Grace Rose Garden, which was created by Prince Rainier III in the memory of his wife, Princess Grace. here

Besides exploring the Promenade, you should walk down the streets of the Old Town (le Vieux Nice). Then head to Castle Hill for impressive views overlooking the city. Then, walk to the outdoor markets along the Cours Saleya to browse stalls of flowers, spices, produce, and antiques. Sun, swim, and people-watch at the Baie des Anges. And enjoy a sunset cocktail overlooking the ancient city and waters beyond.

If you are looking to escape the excess of the Côte d’Azur, Île de Porquerolles is one of the best places on the French Riviera where you can do just that. Just a 10-minute boat ride off the coast from the Riviera town of Hyères, Porquerolles Island is a little-populated oasis boasting pristine sandy beaches and turquoise waters, varied hiking trails, dramatic cliffside, and meandering maritime creeks. Once a quiet fishing village, Saint-Jean-Cap Ferrat has become one of Riviera’s most coveted spots for vacationers and locals seeking a bit of old-fashioned chic. Once favored by the European aristocracy, this pretty peninsula is home to countless striking bits of architecture. The town features five public beaches dotted around the peninsula. The most popular one is Paloma Beach thanks to famous figures such as Henri Matisse, Sean Connery, and Elton John. In town, explore the old Port and 11th-century Saint-Hospice Chapel. Also, consider taking a drive to admire some of the area’s legendary, lavish villas, including the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. [links]

The market is definitely worth a visit – we went there every day we were in Nice to grab some fresh produce and delicious food, like baked goods and the socca that’s made on site. The beautiful flowers are also sourced from the Provence and Alpes-Maritimes countryside. Get there early to avoid the crowds! [links]

The Old Town in Monaco is located on a hill and subsequently offers picturesque views of the Mediterranean. It’s also where the Grimaldi family’s palace is located. Monaco’s Old Town is most easily accessed by walking up the Rampe de la Major, which starts next to the roundabout adjacent to the Place d’Armes. It’s a bit of a steep path but worth it for the views!
