Get tig collet sized for stick electrode.
Today, there are different types of welding and one of the most common options is the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) or Metal Insert Gas Welding (MIG).
On the other hand, a short extension cord that you usually use in lighting up your Christmas lights is not enough to run a 135-amp MIG welder. As a piece of advice, get a nice extension cord with thick wires (rated at 30 amps at least for small welder), as it is more sufficient to run a MIG welder. more
Bear in mind that a MIG welder requires clean base metals thus if you are trying to weld on a surface that has oil, zinc, old paint, rust, and other coatings your MIG welder may not start an arc, and even if it does, more than likely you will not get good penetration. here
I have a millermatic 150 that I bought used a few years ago. It has been an amazing welder. I was welding the other day and in the middle of a bead, it stopped welding. I have had this happen before and waited to let it cool and continued on. This time, there was no continuing. The welder will feed wire and expel gas, but won't arc with fan still running. I have tried wiggling the amperage switch, checked fuse on circuit board, and removed and re-inserted gun. Oh, I also have tried to weld straight to the ground clamp. The main relay will click when the trigger is pressed, but will then un-click, while I have the trigger still pressed.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. more

Hey guys, hoping you guys can help me. I recently bought a used Maxtron 450 with a S22A wire feeder. I run it on single phase 240V. Has welded great so far, but tonight I went out to do some welding and there's no output. Unit powers up. Display lights up, wire feeder feeds wire and gas, but no spark. I tried switching it to stick mode and measuring the output between the "+" & "-" terminal and get zero volts. Should I see voltage there? Any other advice as to what to check. I checked fuses and breakers, but they all appeared to be fine.
Well, my no power output problem has occured again. The welder worked fine for about 3 weeks. Then I went out yesterday and no spark. Everything appears that its working, fan come on, display works, wire feed works, just not spark. I switched over to stick mode and it showed zero volts; whereas it should say approx. 68V. I tried cleaning all the connections as suggested above, checked fuses, etc. Let it sit over night and then today it works fine again. Anyone got any more ideas? Why after sitting overnight does it all of the sudden work again? more

Your welder is an integral part of the workshop and it can help you make almost anything you can think of. But when it stops working it seems to be at the worst time and there isn’t always someone available to troubleshoot with. We decided to give a quick checklist of potential reasons your welder isn’t striking an arc that you can fix yourself. more
If you’re still having problems with your Eastwood welder you can call our tech team at: 1-800-343-9353 to further troubleshoot the welder. We’ve found that most welder issues are small and can be corrected with the steps above.
