We are going to explain Bend radius today - Sometimes called Minimum bend radius. What? Minimum bend radius? I'll try to explain and then throw up a diagram so it makes more sense. When you make a curve in a hose the measurement within the curvature has a minimum distance that can be adhered too before the hose either kinks and limits flow and causes a pressure drop at the work end of your line - Usually your carb or your EFI setup OR under pressure causes extra force on the hose and you get premature wear or in high pressure situations popping the fittings right off the hose.

In this case 0.25 * 2 * 3.14 * 3.5 = here

Now you can use math to figure out how long your length of PTFE hose needs to be for the bend to be within specs. As in how much hose where you start making the bend to where the bend finishes to be within spec for this size of PTFE lined and nylon braided hose.

I've used a brass 45 degree barbed fitting before in tight spots, worked good.

Loop it with the loop on top.

I would say loop it or install hard line bent like it needs to be with only the rubber attaching it. [links]

Thanks if anybody has any ideas. I am taking the day off from it to recover from my injuries. LOL [links]

I can't get the @#$% hose on the fittings without kinking it. more

If you can find a heavy duty fine wound spring of the proper length you can slide the fuel hose inside of it and it will keep the kinks out. I have done this on many projects in the past and it always works.

Alternatively, find some extension coil springs that are slightly larger in diameter than the fuel hose and slide them over the hoses to prevent them from kinking.

It has thinner walls so it doesn't kink. (1) [links]

Use fuel hose that was intended for motorcycles, amigo.

Any suggestions for making that bend without kinking the hose?

I'm replacing a bunch of fuel hoses running between my carburetors, but it seems like the OEM used hoses that were pre-formed or shaped in a mold. When I try to make some of the same 90 degree bends with bulk hose, the hose flattens out and kinks. here

(1) I bought a set of racing carbs from a friend who was using thick walled automotive fuel hose. It took me about three weeks to figure out that the fuel hose was kinking and that was what was causing my carburetors to be starved for fuel.

Also Know, how do you replace quick connect fuel line? A disconnected quick-connect fitting can be re-attached.

The issue with rubber hose is that it will seep fuel if the outside of the steel line is rusty or has a rough uneven surface. If you can flare the end, the connection with the hose will be more secure. Use the more expensive fuel injection clamps. Replace as much of the rusted area with steel as possible. [links]

Where is the fuel line located in a car?

Yes, You can Bend Nylon Fuel line permanently It is easy to bend Nylon tube permanently and can be used safely. You can use following method; - Insert a spring inside the Nylon Tube. the shape you want.
