The 174 tracks and glides through the water with ease. Made from three layer polyethylene it is built to be durable and tough.
A used example of this popular canoe. Stable and watertight. She has been used and shows scrapes and marks as expected, please understand this before bidding. Many an adventure on the river Wye with the kids but we have moved now and can't see us using it much. I have some basic paddles to go with the boat.

While this canoe does have a hull made of plastic, it is beneficial to keep the boat clean and dry by covering it properly while not in use. @ 114#, and 17'+, it is a handful but is car toppable and can still be carried/dragged over land and over some pretty steep banks with two guys. The trick to truck topping is to only lift one end at a time and slide it on /off the racks from the rear. here
The DS17 can be loaded solo (may cause hernia)onto the Thule racks of the Saab but creates a real loss in mpgs and provides the drag coefficient of having a piper cub strapped to your roof. If you can still find one of these boats buy it 10-10+ here

These boats paddle great considering their size and yes you can paddle them solo - I've personally taken mine on multi day trips down the Cains River in New Brunswick and loved it! If you can find one and don't mind moving a 120 lb canoe from, storage, to trailer, to water and back, then buy it - you'll love it. more

It originally came with 2 wooden struts for extra rigidity which are no longer there but can still be bought online. ( I found it perfected rigid for our use without them). The bottom of the boat does have many scratch marks from being dragged along the shoreline and a few specs of paint which I’ve tried to picture. Note it weighs about 40kg. I am happy to help lift it onto your roofbars if required but whoever is collecting will need to assist. here
Old town canoe Discovery 174 Open Boat / Canadian Style. An awesome family open boat!! Had the four of us and dog for many a trip down the Thames and canals. It’s very big but easily fitted to my Ford C-Max attached to the roof bars and ratchet straps. Am selling as my girls are now teenagers and want boats of their own.
