Running your hand along the mud, your fingers graze the handle of a knife. It looks well cared for, and it might be safe to assume that whoever was on the boat might have lost it. Perhaps the large chunk of the missing boat might have something to do with the loss.
Interesting. I believe that this is Raschal's knife. You say you found it at the bottom of the water, along with his boat? Well, just the knife's discovery might not be enough to connect this to Raschal's disappearance; we do, however, have an unconventional option available to us to try and learn more.

The Aquasport 17, Mako 23, Albemarle 24, Dyer 29, and Bertram 31 have all made their mark on sportfishing history.
Aquasport started building fiberglass boats in 1967 and right from the start, their 17’ model was a winner. It went through many changes over the years (Aquasport was purchased by boat-building giant Genmar in the late 80’s), and was known at one point as the Open Fisherman and at another as the Osprey. But one thing remained the same: for its size, the 17 was one of the most seaworthy and competent boats on the water. LOA was an even 17’ 0” and beam was 6’10”. Transom deadrise was a moderate 12-degrees which gave the boat excellent stability, but an aggressive entry split open wave like a much larger boat. Though it was rated for 130 horses most had smaller powerplants, (90’s and 115’s were very popular) which proved more than sufficient.
The 24 is still in production today, and late models include both cuddy cabin and center console versions available with either a gasoline or diesel engine. LOA is 23’7”, beam is 8’0”, transom deadrise is 24-degrees, and fuel capacity is a whopping 118 gallons. Pricing for older models in good shape starts in the $15, 000 to $20,000 range (rougher boats can be found for less) and modern builds in good shape usually run about $50,000, while the new 24 costs upwards of $75,000. here

Donald Campbell’s jet-powered Bluebird K7 broke the world water-speed record seven times between 1955 and 1964 reaching a top speed of 276mph. In a bid to push the record past 300mph, Donald Campbell made a final ill-fated attempt on Coniston Water in 1967. Having topped 300mph in one direction he was mid-way through the return run when Bluebird K7 flipped, instantly killing Campbell before sinking into the depths. The striking 119m Motor Yacht A was built by Blohm and Voss and designed by Philip Starck for Russian industrialist Andrey Melnichenko. It cost a cool $300 million and took four years to complete. Motor Yacht A sleeps 14 guests and 42 crew and remains one of the longest motor yachts in the world. Starck also designed the even more bizarre looking Sailing Yacht A for the same owner. more
The brainchild of Fairey’s chief designer Alan Burnard, the Fairey Huntsman used a deep vee Ray Hunt hull allied to Fairey’s light but strong hot-moulded wooden construction to extract impressive performance from relatively modest engines during its production run from 1961 to 1972. Notable for its fine seakeeping capabilities as well as its handsome looks, this classic sportscruiser is often regarded as the Jaguar E-Type of the sea. more
Based on Ray Hunt’s original race-winning deep-vee hull, the Bertram Moppie was launched in 1961 and survived with only minor changes right through until the mid 80s. Not many made it to the UK but its influence on hull design cannot be overestimated. [links]
