"Everything in Sea of Thieves is built to be tangible," Timmins continues. "Like the chests, which are physical things in the world that can be stolen, lost and even thrown overboard." [links]

Skull & Bones will organise its players into competitive multiplayer, whereas Sea of Thieves, which is looking to expand a single instance of its game world to support five crews of four players, seems content to provide the ingredients for clashes, leaving it up to the players to make their own fun. You pick your pirate ship class based on your preferred playstyle and evolve it with an RPG system. Out in the Indian Ocean, the combat comes into play. You have to harness the wind system to position yourself just right before blowing enemies to bits. You can do this alone, but you'll need to work with other player-controlled pirate ships to fight large merchant ships, among other powerful enemies.

"It's about being a pirate and it's our perspective of what that was like," Timmins says. "Other developers will have their own perspective of what being a pirate was like, but this is the Rare perspective - what a British studio in the middle of the countryside thinks being a pirate in the Caribbean is like." here

It seems loot underpins both Sea of Thieves and Skull & Bones, but each approaches it differently. Skull & Bones looks like it thinks about loot as other Ubisoft games, such as The Division and For Honor, do. In Sea of Thieves, chests are graded by rarity. The better quality the chest, or the rarer the chest, the better the loot inside. But you can't simply open a chest when you find it. You have to pick it up, cart it back to your ship, then sail it back to port to cash it in. Say you sink a ship and their chests bob to the surface. One might be mythical quality, another rare and the final three all common. But as you swim out to grab the chests, another crew turns up. Are they friend or foe? Proximity chat actually lets you discuss the situation. Perhaps you agree to share the spoils. Perhaps not. Either way, carrying a treasure chest is always a risk. [links]

Skull & Bones, then, seems to revolve around combat, whereas Sea of Thieves is more about co-op exploration, riddle-solving and, well, messing about. Yes, there is combat in Rare's game, but it's not particularly complex or sophisticated. You can fire cannons at enemy ships. You can even fire yourself out of a cannon onto an enemy ship. And when you're up close you can fire a pistol in what feels like rudimentary first-person combat. But combat is just one part of Sea of Thieves. It's more about getting together with friends to have a big of a laugh. more

02-Angelica- This has to be one of Zimmer's most iconic pieces, a beautiful sassy feel to it introducing Blackbeard's daughter played by Penelope Cruz. We get the whole feel of her relationship with Jack Sparrow, fun and spicy, this is the best track on the CD. 10/10

With the release of Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides looming on the horizon, anticipation has been very high. Even moreso with the release of Hans Zimmer and Co.'s latest contribution to the franchise. Coming on board this time are Spanish guitarist duo Rodrigo y Gabriela and composer Eric Whitacre. Interestingly enough, the latest release actually feels alot more different than the previous scores (I haven't seen the film yet so I have no great basis for comparison) with the help of the spanish guitars and the X-Ray Dog feel. The album itself has also been prematurely criticized for the amount of remixes tacked onto the end. [links]

06- South of Heavens Chanting Mermaids- Another Rodrigo piece which seems out of place for a film like Pirates of the Caribbean. As a stand alone track, it is very beautiful but it doesn't fit what I would normally think a Pirates Soundtrack would have. (for the part of the film (5/10) (stand alone 8/10)

05- Mermaids- A haunting choir of woman sing a bit of the At Wit's End track from At World's End soundtrack. With respects to Davy Jone's Music Box as well, it makes as an interesting ghostly piece. Love to see how its used in the film. 8/10

On Stranger Tides- This is, for the most part, the theme of the score. At first I wasn't really impressed but if you do go back for a repeated listen, you will be surprised at the thought put into the track. Opening with a mysterious motif, the track suddenly bursts into a choral burst of energy. The cue is suprisingly powerful and does resonate after listening.

But the pleasures of Salazar and his crew were short lived, for without the power of the Trident, the walls of water were slowly closing in on them. As Barbossa came flying in the Black Pearl's anchor, Salazar, who was still intent on revenge, began to run for it, as did the entire Silent Mary's crew. Jack, Henry, and Carina managed to climb on board, and were then quickly followed by Salazar and two of his crew members. Lieutenant Lesaro cried out for his Capitán, but was left behind. As Salazar began to climb up the anchor's chain, he drew his sword, not satisfied with just being human again and still eager to kill, as seen by his attempt to reach Carina and end her life. [4]
