Like any outboard motor component, you’ll have to perform maintenance on these features so that you won’t face issues down the line. In order to keep the rams working well, you’ll need to add tilt and trim oil.

As you might expect, there are two functions of the power trim and tilt switch that directly affect the engine of your boat. These aspects of your outboard are typically controlled directly on the throttle control of your Force motor. Additionally, some models also use a switch located directly on your boat’s dash in order to control this feature. Here’s how each work : here

Just like when you drive a car, there are aspects of boating like the power trim and tilt for your Force outboard motor that can make the marine experience better. You’ll find the control for the motors power tilt and trim on the manual throttle control of your boat. This switch directly affects the positioning of the outboard engine at the rear of the vessel. more

I bought a used 82' 70hp Johnson. It needed a few minor fixes, and one was the power tilt and trim.

I'll address the reservoir first. I bought two bottles of TNT fluid and filled the pump. Pressed the up button and wahlah. nothing. the motor was working, but the engine wouldn't tilt or trim. So I tried to bleed out some air, which requires it to be raised and lowered. So, I performed this by hand a few times, and pumped in some more fluid until it reached the fill screw. Hit the button again, and same thing, no movement. I thought to myself. self, why are you able to raise and lower this by hand, shouldn't this be a closed hydrolic system? So I did some research and probing and found that I had a leak coming from the manual release screw. Took it out and replaced the o-ring. (There were two problems. The fluid reservoir was bone dry and the motor would work intermittently..50 or something). Filled her up again (with two new bottles of fluid, the original fluid fill leaked all over my grass). This time. yay. it worked, sluggish, but with a couple of full cycles. it worked great. more

But, don't party yet, the TNT motor would work for about 30 seconds and quit. Then if you wait about 20 more seconds it would work for 5 more and quit. Back to the internet research. It confirmed my suspicion, the relays were bad. Well, they weren't really bad, they were a little marred and corroded. So, i fixed this by sanding down the contacts and scraping some black sticky substance from the terminals. I plugged in the relays and crossed my fingers. success. more
