You can then take your gas line and connect it into the fitting. Push the hose completely into the fitting, and then hold it in place by turning the fitting seal with your fingers. If you are adding several lines at once, attach the hoses and seal lightly before starting to seal the connection using a wrench. In some types of propane tanks, such as those used in boats, it is necessary to attach an adaptor to complete the seal. This can be in the form of an O-ring or similar connection. Tighten the O-ring first, and then attach the propane tank fitting over the top. here

When you are applying propane tank fittings to your tank, you need to exercise a great deal of care. Propane is very volatile and explosive, and poor seals can allow the gas to leak out into the surrounding atmosphere. The fittings, which are usually used to fix the gas lines to the tank, are known as compression fittings. The complete connection of these fittings is necessary to ensure that gas cannot escape through the sides. To do this, it is necessary to ensure that you add a secure seal to the propane tank fittings. Here are some tips to help you through the process.

If you have a new propane tank, you will probably have a compression fitting that is associated with the propane tank. If there is not one, you can easily purchase compression propane tank fittings from a hardware store. The fitting should be safely sealed onto the tank. Begin installing the propane tank fittings by wrapping some Teflon tape around the threads of your tank. This should allow you to get a good seal on your fitting, even if the connection is slightly too large. Push the compression fitting firmly onto the tank. more

Propane tank fittings come in a number of different styles, and this may mean that you need to treat the fittings differently. For example, some straight-through compression fittings are sometimes too short to pass from the propane tank (on an RV or boat) through to the internal gas line. You may need to adjust the size of the hole, and then seal it using duct tape or similar. It is important not to use caulk or other seals near to the compression fittings. here

As propane tank fittings are designed to prevent gas from leaking, it is vital that you treat them with due care. One of the most important things to avoid is the use of sealants on the surface of the fitting itself. You can use sealing tape, but any kind of caulking, metal seal, or similar chemical device is not advisable. This is due to the chance that the sealant may corrode the propane tank fittings. In addition, you should try to avoid placing the fittings near a very hot surface. This can sometimes cause the compression to loosen. Keep the tank and the fittings as far from any potential sources of heat as possible. here

The propane regulator is a crucial component of every RV gas system and if it is not working properly you will notice problems with your propane appliances. If your propane regulator is bad, there are several signs to look out for and a lot of them can be seen from a burner: more

Propane is a fairly clean gas and it doesn’t normally have dark smoke when it burns. A healthy propane flame shouldn’t put off hardly any soot. If you have started noticing dark black marks forming around your water heater or even your RV kitchen by the stove then you either have something in the burner causing the soot or the flame is weak and isn’t burning cleanly. here

Propane regulators have a vent located on the bottom to help the regulator breathe while being used. It is also works a safety feature in case the propane tank is overfilled and the pressure is getting too high. If there is propane coming from the vent, check to make sure your propane tank is not overfilled. If the tank is not the problem, then the regulator has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

You could try adjusting the flame strength on a water heater to resolve the problem. But if the heavy soot persists then you have a bad RV regulator. [links]

[QUOTE=Blacksmith;349716]Since the regulators are no-name, they're probably not worth much to sell, so use the fitting that seals from the regulators, but keep your original fitting in case this problem is peculiar to those tanks. KISS prionciple.[/QUO more

The old regs do have a name "Astro" on them, which seems to be what they include in some of the cheap sets they sell for a few hundred dollars everywhere. here

Look close at the leaking nipple on Cobra regulator inlet connection. Sometimes you can see very shallow depression eroded from gas leaking by. Often you can't see problem other than it leaks. Anyway you can't fix the part only replace with new inlet fitting. First try your leaking Cobra regulator on another full bottle and valve at gas dealer to be sure that is problem before spending money on new inlet fitting. But I am sure that is the problem.

So normally, it works hooking up to the LP cylinder, where you can see popliteal fits and a sprint of the diaphragm inside there. It means the spring pushes forward, and there you will find an adjusting screw that is located underneath it.

The regulator directly comes out from the cylinder and allows gas to go to the burners of your gas grill. When it works well, you will get adequate gases and never fall short of cooking your favorite dishes. Therefore, to keep a regulator that works perfectly is mandatory. The problems are obvious, and you can sort them out. However, you may need to replace it with a new regulator.

The regulator brings gas from your LP tank and connects to your gas grill; this is a common function. It looks like a silver-colored disc, and it has two-part; one part end connects up to the propane tank, and the other part’s end hooks up to the propane grill.

Normally regulators come with two types one is single-hosed, and the other is double-hosed. The single-hosed regulator is the most common that we can see in the used parts on grills, and it comes with 60,000 BTUs of gas.
