In between, phrases in several languages from Ms. Holzer's ''Truisms,'' ''Laments,'' ''Survival'' and ''Lustmord'' series appear on T-shirts, baseball hats, coffee cups, bumper stickers, posters and paperweights, as well as in the form of rubber stamps, tattoos (photographs of them) and small books. more

This well-done survey of her multiples and editions begins with ''Truisms,'' which were initially printed on cheap colored paper and plastered on the walls of the East Village in the late 1970's. It concludes with mini-LED displays whose phrases flow by one letter at a time, making them tedious to read. more

But here, her flat, insistent sound bites mostly hit home, their compactness and unexpected locations causing that particular giddiness of recognition that only words can. They change voice effortlessly, raise consciousness on various fronts and evoke specific, often horrific situations.

In the late 1970's, Jenny Holzer saw the future, and it had writing on it. Along with language-oriented artists in a range of art mediums -- among them Jean-Michel Basquiat, Barbara Kruger, Louise Lawler and Christopher Wool -- she concluded that signage was the way to go. Ms. Holzer, in particular, favored immediate communication and broad distribution, which for her came down to blunt, pungently expressed thoughts conveyed by cheap, ubiquitous means.

It's a cute film about that moment. A time where I wish I had acted upon my own feelings. It's an exciting time when anything can happen. here

I have to say that this film is very clever and delicately done in a time when it may have been considered quite controversial. The ending is genius. more

Postmortem (2005) I only have 1 ex that I would ever consider meeting, either just for sex or to see if it could work again. It's an interesting idea, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't come to see me again, but then I'm not Murray Bartlett. We've all come to love him since his appearance in 'Looking' and his revival of the role of Mouse in 'Tales Of The City', so it's nice to look back and see what he got up to before all of that. here

Wrestling (2007) I will never understand or want to understand wrestling. I certainly couldn't ever bring myself to watch a match. Weirdly in this film it looks more like a weird formal dance.

It's actually quite boring and has some sort of ridiculousness about it.

Unexpected encounters can bring about a happy ending, but is the risk always worth taking? Unexpected encounters can bring about a happy ending, but is the risk always worth taking? Unexpected encounters can bring about a happy ending, but is the risk always worth taking?

It does have a comedic edge, but it is also such a sad story and the message is very important. Stay with it, there will always be brighter days.
