I have one on my 24 footer and it helps with the ride. I don't have power trim and if I set the engine in one notch the front of the pontoons plow the water. Without the hydrofoil the stern digs in. When I first installed it, it gave to much lift, so I trimmed an inch off each side and tested it again. I ended up trimming about 2 inches off both sides to get the best ride at my normal cruising speed. I've been running it that way for 20 years and it hasn't caused any problems.

The whole reason I ended up on this site is from my search to find out if I could get the kit that my dad had on his 24-foot pontoon boat when I was a kid (back in the '80s). I wouldn't want a pontoon boat without it. more

The viscosity of the water is increased with the increasing speed of the body.
Rapid gliding with the help of hydrofoil saves the fuel and resources and is good for long journey. [links]

Be careful of the rubber washer while adjusting the hydrofoil. here

The most enduring question about hydrofoils is if they actually work to increase speed. The short answer is yes. The slightly longer answer is that hydrofoils have been proven to be effective at increasing speed on boats since the 19th century. Military ships have been using them since World War II. If this technology is good enough for the United States Navy, it should be an excellent pontoon boat accessory for you. more

The average double log pontoon boat reaches speeds between 20 to 28 miles per hour with 1-2 people on board. But speeds drop significantly when you add 4+ people and hundreds of pounds of gear. This is where Hydrofin comes in. The wings lift your boat, reduce drag and increase top speed by 30 to 40 percent even with heavy loads. more

A pontoon boat is the ideal water vehicle. It offers a lot of space for storage, which makes it a good choice for fishing trips. A pontoon typically has comfortable seating, providing ample room for boating with families and friends. What a pontoon is not typically known for is speed.
In some instances, people who use hydrofoils with their boats end up with even slower speeds. This could happen if you install a hydrofoil incorrectly.

Without a hydrofoil, the normal way that a boat works meets more resistance. As the boat reaches higher speeds, the hull will increase the pressure drag. In other words, you’ll need more engine power to overcome this resistance, which burns more fuel.
Yet, there’s nothing to worry about if your boat is on the bigger side. You can still install a hydrofoil on it just fine, and you’ll notice changes in its speed as well.

Hydrofoils come in several shapes and designs. Yet, the most popular shape you’ll find on the market is more on the triangular side. It looks a bit like a whale’s tail fin. But, how exactly does a hydrofoil work? [links]
