Also, I'm having some issues finding the correct filter. Right now it has a Mercruiser filter on it, is there a way a way to cross filter numbers to get what I need at a local parts store or NAPA?? I know they can do that with spark plugs etc. But they aren't having any luck with the numbers I can read off the filter.
I'm in the middle of getting things together to change the oil on my Mercruiser stern drive. It's an Alpha 1, 3.0 The owners manual calls for SAE 40 weight oil, which I bought. However the filler cap sahows to use 10W-30. Any suggestions? here
straight 40 would be ok, but not if you boat into October in the midwest or other cold climates here
