Drain the water from the motor, even tilting it up and down several times to ensure all the water drains out. If you use your motor in brackish or polluted water, you'll want to flush the outboard with fresh water to minimize deposit accumulation. Make sure the cooling system is drained completely as well. here
Will my outboard motor freeze? [links]
Yes, you will need to drain the lower unit fluid. You could re-use the fluid if it was new this year to pinch a penny but i would re-fill with new.
Additionally, how often should lower unit oil be changed? 100 hours

Re: Lower unit drain plug stuck; suggestions?
Oftentimes I have used a sharp strike with a brass punch to loosen stuck fasteners.

Happens at lot. Hit the area with a propane torch for about 1 minute, then retry.

The case is aluminum & the screw is steel. They expand at different rates (aluminum much faster per degree temp rise), so the heat will cause the 'crud bonds' to break.

Obviously, you want a good-fitting screwdriver. I use a hammer impact tool sometimes, but I think the heat really does the trick.

Use a new gasket on the screw. Some sealant on the threads may keep it from binding up again.
