This year's festival marks the 71st edition of the event and takes place from May 8th to 19th. As with previous editions, it promises not to disappoint, especially in the heated competition for the highest honour at the Festival - the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm). The award is one of the most prestigious in the film industry. Australian actress Cate Blanchett is this year's jury president, following on from Spanish director Pedro Amodóvar last year. The action centres on Canne's famous beachfront promenade, La Croisette, and the red carpet of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. Movie screenings and award ceremonies will occur alongside press conferences and parties. The Old Port of Cannes, which is at the heart of the action, will be packed with luxury yachts hosting glamourous parties, power meetings and TV interviews. There's no more perfect backdrop for a luxury car rental in France. In fact, it's difficult to spot a car that isn't a prestigious marque such as Rolls-Royce, Porsche or Bentley. [links]
