if the drive is not cetered in the gimbal ring that can happen. you may have a worn out lower pin and bushing, worn upper gimbal ring bushings or the bushings in the pivot pins that hold the bell housing to the gimbal ring. my commercial guys running cobras and sx volvos go through at least one lower pin and bushing a year. if your having lower pin/bushing problems there is a cure that is not in any manual but I got it nailed .<br />nailed it by 91 here

anode or "zinc" anode, even if not actually zinc.. there is a waffle grid type pattern one under the outdrive like the one in the picture below the ballgears and exhaust passage. should be available still, plenty of good used ones in scrapyards
cant remember one on the pivoting part but name would still likely contain zinc or anode. if you slip the boat these are very important. there may be a bonding wire attached to one of the mounting bolts as well.

Debi, look HERE at item #32 on the diagram and note that there's 3 of them on the parts list. Not that you're going to do that one now, but when you do your next outdrive service (before there's nothing left of it). what a stupid place for an anode! here
