The first method is to attach a single line to both the bow and the stern cleat.

If you are brand new to launching from a ramp it might be helpful to make your first attempt on a weekday or a least a day when the ramp is not going to be too busy just so you don’t feel pressured to do everything in a hurry. Launch ramps may be public—at a county park, for example—or private, such as a ramp at a private campground, gated community, or marina. In either case there may be a small fee for launching, so take care of that as soon as you arrive.

With your vehicle in park and the parking brake set, get out and remove the safety chain from the bow eye, and release the trailer winch so the strap goes slack and you can unclip it from the bow eye. Your helper can also do this while you wait in the vehicle, but you still should put the vehicle in Park and set the brake. here

Depending on the ramp and your tow vehicle, you may or may not be able to release the boat without standing in the water. It's best to wear footwear that can get wet, or boots. here

Using this method you’ll know before you release the boat that the engine will start. As soon as the boat is free, move the vehicle and trailer out of the way, park and return to the dock and the boat. [links]

You are going to want to have a line ready to secure the boat after it floats off the trailer, and there are several ways to do this. The best method depends on the ramp.

Its worth a looking over but understand that its always fixable don't let it ruin your weekend, don't over think it. Get to know your boat, where the likely places for water to get in are, if upon your inspection things are fine, move on and enjoy the weekend!!

Re: Water in the engine compartment, normal?

No. not every boat has water pouring out after use. If you do no water sports and take a cruise somewhere and take no waves into the boat, the boat should be dry. [links]

Is it normal for every boat to have about a gallon or two water under your engine compartment each time you put your boat in the water and end of day activities? Each time after I retrieve the boat from the water at the end of day, remove the drain plug, there's about a gallon or two pouring out. the weird thing is I don't see any leaking water at all but where does the water came from?

Once you're ready to back down the ramp and launch, you'll want to align the boat and trailer so you can back straight down the ramp. more

Pro Tip: As you check that your drain plug is installed and your key is in the ignition, this would be a good time to bump the key into the “start” position just to make sure you don’t have a dead battery. Better to find out now than after the boat is off the trailer. Don’t start the engine! You’ll damage the water pump.

The other thing you need to think about is the construction of the watercraft you intend to buy. Most bass boats come in two flavors – aluminum and fiberglass.

Keep in mind that while these vessels may appear light, they’re far from it, especially if you’re handling it on your own. Look out for boats that have features designed to make the process a little bit easier. [links]

Standard features include two expansive casting decks with a bow and center rod storage and an aerated livewell, a must in any fishing boat. here

Bass boats, on the other hand, are slightly different. You can’t use them for anything other than freshwater fishing. They are highly-focused and specifically built to give you the best and most efficient fishing experience yet.
