My wife thought there was ample storage in the galley cabinets but then she discovered “the pantry”. Under the galley floor, which rises via an electric hatch, and down two steps, there’s a massive space that houses the washer/dryer combo and on two large shelves dedicated space for four large storage bins. Sea Ray has hit the mark with the 520 Sedan Bridge, the smallest in the line of yachts ranging from 52 to 61 feet. Moving forward, the guest stateroom is to port with a double innerspring mattress, hanging storage, a flatscreen TV and access to the day head. I love the thoughtful touches like the skylight overhead that provides plenty of light through from the forward windows. To starboard, the kids’ stateroom features twin bunk beds as well as hanging storage and a skylight. more
Talking to one of Sea Ray's project engineers (who shall remain nameless), I mentioned that the guest stateroom was large enough for a couple to slow-dance in. He glanced around to see if anyone was listening and said, "Hell, I'd take the guest cabin if this was my boat. It's just as roomy, the bed is square, the head compartment has a big shower and . " he glanced around conspiratorially, "the owner doesn't have to listen to the waves slapping the bow all night." Good point, and I have to agree that he who pays the bills should have the best night's sleep.

Twin seats behind the helm convert to leaning posts with fold-up cushions that, combined with the tilt wheel, make standing or sitting equally comfortable. The burled instrument panel includes a comprehensive systems monitor, rocker switches, and separate shift and throttle levers on opposite sides of the wheel. The standard Raytheon electronics package includes GPS, loran, VHF radio and a Raydata Multifunction instrument combining depthfinder, speedometer, log and water temperature gauges. The bridge also has a separate stereo system, with six-disc CD changer, amplifier, subwoofer and six speakers. Included as standard equipment is a bimini top and full bridge enclosure. Our test boat had the optional hardtop with enclosure, plus a hatch in the top so you can bake your head or not.
Compared to the 2010 model, the new Sedan Bridge has better performance and longer range, thanks to both Zeus efficiency and larger fuel tanks made possible by moving the engines. So in our book the change in propulsion alone makes this a worthy upgrade from Sea Ray’s already excellent 450 Sedan Bridge of years past.

Sea Ray redesigned the flying bridge of the new sedan bridge. The helm has been moved slightly to starboard from its former midships position. Moving the helm provides more unobstructed area to port, enough for a double companion seat and extra console space for two navigation displays and added stowage. Both helm and companion seats swivel through 180 degrees to serve also as part of the seating aft, where there’s a U-shaped lounge and dinette. Options include a TV and wetbar. The design features a bolt-on swim platform, while on newer models, this has been incorporated as part of the hull. The platform is perfect for staging a dive, storing water toys such as kayaks, or simply hanging out when at anchor. A freshwater shower is conveniently stationed beside the transom door.
“This boat is solid as a rock,” commented the younger Long. “The DD 8-92s are hooked to V-drives and she cruises easily at 20 knots plus even through rough seas. We’ve had the boat as far south as Fort Lauderdale and she’s never let us down.” [links]
Sea Ray’s 480/500 Sundancer made a name for itself by providing a roomy platform for on-the-water fun. Not much has changed.
Moving about the interior, the construction of the bulkheads and joinery is solid. There was not a creak or a groan when we jumped up and down on the sole; very impressive. Abundant natural light comes in via multiple ports and hatches, and contributes to an unmistakable open-air ambience below. [links]
