So this is what spawned the idea. [links]
I`ve advertised the boat on CL and can`t seem to get a decent offer. I`ve even offered to part out the boat as well to no avail. [links]
Block off plates for the intakes of the twin jets.
So i`m figuring both rotax engines fully dressed (exhaust as well)should be 150-200 lbs. The 455 is in the 500# range. So i eliminate the ability to ride 3rear passengers. Thats 600#.
both motors are still in there, so I`m going to set her in the water today with 8-50# sand bags in the eng. bay to simulate the added 400#. I`ll get back to you with the results and i`ll take a few pics as well.
You mentioned both helium then hydrogen. I get the helium joke. I`ve built a few hydrogen generators. Sure gave my truck a noticeable boost in off-the-line performance. Comparable to adding an msd box and k&n filter. I wasn`t measuring fuel gains however. here

He's in business to make money and has to pay overhead, utilities, rent, taxes, insurance, etc. The other advantage is he will stand by his work (I assume). [links]
You could check around to see if you could find a mechanic to do it for less. But I have heard some horror stories about using unskilled mechanics.
I called my local Seadoo shop and they gave me an estimate of $1000 to pull my old engine and install my new engine/swapping everything over to it. Does this sound correct? Just seems high to me. more
Any insight/help would be appreciated. for that kind of dough, I am tempted to do the swap myself if I can get a friend to help. here
I have a 99 Seadoo Challenger with one bad engine. I have a new engine to swap in and was going to do it myself but I am skeptical since I don't have any real wrench time and I don't have the alignment tool which someone told me I *need* to use/have for this install. more
Actually it sounds about right for a dealer, that translates to about 10 man hours. Plus parts, probably only needs a gasket set, "O" ring for the pump, fluids. He will need to remove and reinstall the pump. There is considerable work. [links]
