Alex Moffat was reprising his smarmy “Guy Who Owns a Boat” character, and then introduced his equally obnoxious pal “Guy Who Knows the Owner,” played by Reynolds, as they offered their dubious advice on hooking up.
At the end of their bit, “Weekend Update” anchor Colin Jost bid the pair farewell, calling them “my two best friends” — a line made all the more interesting given that Reynolds was once married to Scarlett Johansson, who is currently engaged to Jost. more
Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance during Will Ferrell’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue this week, and delighted fans when he popped up later in the show during “Weekend Update”.
Reynolds also appeared onstage for the show’s closing moments, with he and Jost on opposite ends of the stage. more
Mint is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) meaning the company piggybacks on another network — in this case T-Mobile — to provide service to customers. It was started in California in 2016.
While Scarlett Johansson tussles with Disney over her “Black Widow” compensation, claiming she’s out $50 million, her ex Ryan Reynolds could be prepping for a windfall in the hundreds of millions.
The Canadian-born “Deadpool” actor — who divorced Johansson a decade ago — married Blake Lively the following year. In late 2019, Reynolds also scored a tie-up with Mint Mobile, snagging a stake in the prepaid phone provider even as he became its pitchman. more
Ryan Reynolds’ stake in Mint is estimated between 20 and 25 percent of the company, a source told The Post. WireImage
Now, Mint is shopping itself and could sell for as much as $600 million to $800 million, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation. Altice USA, which owns cable, phone, internet, and wireless services, is said to be the lead buyer, although it’s unclear whether it will end up closing a deal. here
Ryan Reynolds was really around during the latest Saturday Night Live. After he crashed Will Ferrell's opening monologue, he popped up again during "Weekend Update" -- this time to wear a bright orange vest and make what seemed like thousands of sex jokes.
"That's what she'll say?" replies Colin Jost (who — fun fact — is engaged to Reynolds's ex-wife, Scarlett Johansson).
"Slide some Land O'Lakes under the skin to make that white meat wet," Moffat says at one point. Disturbing! more
We’ve all had those wacky “man, wouldn’t it be nice if we [blank]” schemes with our friends, whether it’s going on a wild vacation or working together on an ill-conceived screenplay, but Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are apparently two such friends who actually have the money and abundance of childish enthusiasm to make their goofy dreams a reality. Case in point: They recently bought a Welsh soccer team (or “football club”) called Wrexham A.F.C., apparently just because it seemed like a fun thing to do.
Here’s a Yahoo! article titled “Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Explain Why They Bought a Welsh Soccer Team,” and if you’re going into something like that expecting an answer, you may come away disappointed. The answer, really, is pretty much just that they’re both rich guys with similar sensibility, and they figured that there are worse things to do with money than buy a “fifth tier” football club. Oh, also, the two had never met in person when they decided to buy the team. They’re just text friends.
There’s a Men’s Health feature that gets into it , with Reynolds interviewing McElhenney as a flimsy excuse to print a bunch of shirtless photos of Mac from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and they explain that the origin of their friendship came from Reynolds following McElhenney on social media and getting offended when he saw a photo of McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson drinking tequila. Reynolds, who owns Aviation Gin, sent him a playfully snotty DM, mentioned that he’s a big Always Sunny fan, and then shipped McElhenney a case of booze. After that, they apparently became very good internet friends and eventually bought a soccer team in a foreign country. We know there are some steps missing in the middle there, like a real-life version of that “step three: . step four: profit” meme, but that’s just what we’ve got to work with here. Deadpool and Mac bought a soccer team in Wales, what else do you want? more
Musical guest King Princess performed “1950” and “Hit the Back” during her two sets.
Ferrell attempted to deliver his monologue, but he couldn’t help but notice Reynolds was in the audience. The Deadpool star mentioned that he was a big fan of the comedian, which Ferrell never got over. Things only grew more nerve-racking when Reynolds noted that his wife, Blake Lively, was also an admirer and watching from home. Ferrell eventually began impersonating Tracy Morgan, which led to the 30 Rock alum coming out on stage to bring the bit home.
Ferrell, Armisen and Rudolph reunited to play Pocahontas’ (Melissa Villaseñor) relatives, who had some oddly relevant feelings about the state of the world. The sketch ended with a heartfelt and funny Thanksgiving address from the host.
The show pulled off a who’s who of former Saturday Night Live cast members — including Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen and Rachel Dratch — for a sketch about the Democratic presidential debate. Woody Harrelson, Larry David and Ferrell also earned slots in the star-studded lineup. here
Jost and Reynolds were later on opposite sides of the stage when host Will Ferrell closed out the show.
Reynolds, who was married to Johansson from 2008 to 2011, stopped by “Weekend Update” for a sex-talk segment with Alex Moffat’s Guy Who Just Bought a Boat. The actor interacted with Jost — whom the Avengers: Endgame star got engaged to earlier this year — during the bit, which ended with the comedian calling Reynolds and Moffat “my two best friends.”
