I tried several sets of wires. I ended up with Vette wires. I also used an aftermarket loom set. Wires are held off the headers.

Only reason I bring this up is, people tend to believe hype, especially about things related to cylinder heads, and dyno readings. Yes, an angle plug head may make a slight bit more power over a straight plug head, but the main benefit in aiming the flame light off is stopped dead by the negative electrode on the plug shrouding the burn. IN other words, some heeaders get interference fits with straight plugs while other headers interfere with angled plugs. Depends upon the design of the headers. more

About the only way to change this is to run what is called a "surface gap" spark plug, NO NEGATIVE ELECTRODE IN THE FLAME PATH (NGK BUHX or Champion UL17V/UL19V). Not practicle for our engines, surface gappers were designed for outboard two stroke engines and used in Kawasaki early H1 500cc triples with CD ignitions. These surface gap spark plugs are of very cold heat ranges, not suitable for our engine mixture light off temperatures. [links]

You are right, when looking from above, the plug is angled away from the header. This improves clearance.

I've decided purchase some Promaxx Maxx 183 heads for my 1968 camaro and need some help choosing which plug angle. Here's some info on the engine:

Right now I'm very limited on plugs since I'm running double hump heads with 13/16 gasket style plugs. Standard length plugs won't fit with my headers so I'm stuck with Accels. Would angled plug heads help or am I better off with straight? Promaxx makes the heads in both but the angled are out of stock. more
