The deck will usually be covered with marine carpeting as well. This carpeting is designed to be resistant to mold and mildew. Typically, it will be coated with a UV coating as well.
Otherwise, the engines might be mounted at the end of separate pontoons.
The fuel tank is 32.1 gallons which are not counted in the dry weight of the boat. With full tanks, you can expect to add several hundred pounds to the weight of the boat. more
Towing this pontoon boat is better left to trucks and large SUVs. more
Pontoon boats typically have a dry weigh around 120 pounds per foot. A 25-foot pontoon boat will typically weigh around 3,000 pounds. The weight also depends on the engine size. The fuel tank can also add several hundred pounds to the total weight when the pontoon boat is ready to go.
A modern pontoon boat consists of two to three aluminum pontoons which are connected together with aluminum cross members. These cross members are both welded and screwed to the underlying pontoons.
Re: mercruiser 3.0L HP ratings [links]
Mercruiser never made a 140HP "3.0L". The 140HP 4cyl engine was the older 181CI version of the engine with HP rated at the crank, instead of HP rated at the prop like the 3.0L engines. 181CI and 3.0L engines are very close, but everything is not interchangable between the 2. more
I doubt you'll see any performance increase with the electronic ignition. I wouldn't bump the timing.
the 181 ci and the 3.0 are the SAME. GM only made the 2.5 (151) and 3.0 (181) 4-bangers. here
