The Millennium Star is currently the second largest known colorless diamond in the world. It was discovered in the year 1990 in Mbuji-Mayi district of Zaire, modern-day Democratic Republic of Congo.
On January 26, 1905, a diamond measuring 10.1 cm long and 6.3 cm in width was retrieved from a mine in a small town of Cullinan, South Africa. It was three times as big as the Excelsior diamond. It was named after the mine’s chairmen at the time, Thomas Cullinan. [links]
