Make sure your trolling motor is in the stowed position before making the run back to the ramp, and for obvious safety precautions, never power the trolling motor when there are swimmers in the water.

At the high tech end, there are motors with bluetooth connected remote hand held controls, so you can roam the boat while still keeping on the fish. here

Talk to your local boat dealer, other bowrider owners who use trolling motors, and do a little online research before buying. If you only need the motor for fishing trips, select one that is easily removed from the bow for family outings. Your salesman, if you go to a traditional boating supply store, can help with your selection.

Several small holes may need to be drilled in the top most surface of the gunnel. Remember to use a good quality marine sealant in that area, and backing blocks or fender washers underneath, if the fiberglass is very thin. more

The simplest, low cost trolling motors will do for most casual fishing applications, and those may include quick disconnect mounts and wiring to discourage theft, so you can dismount and stow the motor when not in use. more

To be mounted properly, bow mount motors need a flat surface on the bow to be mounted to. You'll want to ensure that there is no raised lip around the boat edge that would interfere with mounting as the mount may need to hang slightly over the deck. The mounting footprint for motors varies by model but we do list the mount dimensions for most of our motors on the individual product pages. more

It's also crucial to ensure there's enough room on your boat to properly stow your trolling motor when not in use. When stowed, a bow mount motor will lay flat along the deck so you'll need to ensure there aren't any obstacles that will prevent it from being safely stored. To determine how much room you'll need, take the shaft length and add 12" to account for the motor head and propeller. This will give you a good idea of how much room you'll need behind the motor. here

With the mounting considerations taken care of, all that's left is to think about where you'll store your electrical components. Depending on the voltage of your motor, you'll need between one and three batteries. You'll also want to think about where the foot pedal (if used) and any battery charger you'll be installing will go. [links]

Ideally, you'll want to have access to the under side of the mounting platform as this will make it easier to drill and bolt down your motor. But even if you don't have access you can still secure the motor to the bow using special some type of "no access mounting bolt" (akin to a drywall screw). here

i-Pilot is like magic. Like a magician in a black cape standing next to me in my boat sprinkling pixie dust and saying, “Abracadabra! More fish!” Thanks TrollingMotors.net for making this magical purchase so easy and fun. You guys are the best. more

Why buy from Bass Pro or Cabelas when you can buy from these guys? From start to finish this was one of the best, if not the best, online shopping experiences I’ve ever had. The owner answered all my questions, the prices were great, and the motor arrived in two days. Don’t buy anywhere else. here
