Mount your smartphone on the dual-joystick topside remote controller, connect the 328' tether, and drive the ROV at speeds up to 3 knots (5' per second) for up to 4.5 hours on a charge. Its six thrusters provide 6 DOF (degree of freedom) movement so you can climb, dive, and roll, and Qysea's Posture Lock technology allows you to maintain an angle within 0.1° while moving. The vehicle's camera features a 1/2.3" SONY CMOS sensor, an f/2.5 aperture, a 166° field of view, a top ISO rating of 6400, 4K UHD video at 25/30 fps, 1080p video with a frame rate as high as 120 fps, and the ability to shoot in DNG format. The remote-control unit employs gaming console-style joysticks and can record your images to microSD cards up to 32GB or stream your content over Wi-Fi. The free Fifish App enables editing, color restoration, sound track, and instant sharing. [links]

Finally, let's consider drones that have autonomous functionality. These are perfect, as mentioned if you plan on doing a lot of diving with your drone, but don't plan on having someone with you who can watch over the operation or control the drone. As anyone who has gone diving knows, you pretty much already have your hands full from the activity of diving alone. Adding drone controls on top of that could be prohibitively difficult or even dangerous.

This is why some companies have designed drones for this exact reason. For example, the iBubble on this list can follow the user automatically without any control input. Alternatively, you can hold the drone by a leash like extension and guide it in front of you, much like a dog. Either of these options are great for those looking for a solo drone to take diving.

If you're in the market for an underwater drone then there are a few things you should be on the lookout for. The technology is still relatively new in the consumer world, unlike the aerial quadcopter style drones that have been around for a while. Because of this, almost every drone on the market has wildly different specs, giving them very distinct advantages and disadvantages relative to each other. [links]

The Fusion and Session cameras do not fit into the enclosures of underwater drones, so you are restricted to only cameras from the Hero product line. The base model of the Hero can record in 1440p or 1080p while both the Hero5 and Hero6 Black can record in glorious 4k. The difference between the two is that the 6 can run at 60 frames per second while the Hero5 can only record at 30 frames per second.

Wired controllers tend to be much more advanced in their controls options than wireless ones, which can be great for more advanced users but intimidating to newbies. Often these models will not only allow the operator to control the movements of the drone but also a camera gimbal that can be moved independently to keep interesting scenery or animals in the shot for longer without turning the whole drone.

Gladius Advanced Pro is the best 4K drone we have come across. The 2400 lumen lights and 4K camera produce excellent photos and video. The design is robust and durable with an abrasion resistant tether rated for 220lbs! Gladius performs better than many ROVs twice the price! Great rig for filming, inspection, or hunting for underwater creatures or treasure!

I made a serious bad rating on this Drone. After having it for a few months, I found it to be inferior to the other underwater Drones. This Drone is pure junk. Powerray Company has no hot line if your in trouble. You can’t upload your movies or stills. Impossible. Also if you don’t live in the Bahamas or somewhere the water is crystal clear you’re wasting your time and money. I’ve noticed a lot of vendors are using my bad review to further sell this junk. I would also like to say the same about all the rest of these useless Drones. Don’t waste your cash. Sorry for my mistake. It took some time to figure out all the unneeded bells and whistles installed to further confuse the buyer. Frisby1972.
