Compared to gasoline-powered boat motors, electric outboard motors provide quieter operation, no exhaust fumes and zero emissions. Electrics are great as the primary means of propulsion for small boats, a secondary means of propulsion for large boats, or in places where gasoline motors are prohibited or otherwise undesirable. Because electric boat motors are often used for fishing, they are commonly called “trolling motors”.
The transom-mount Minn Kota Endura C2 30 is the smallest in Minn Kota’s line of Endura C2 trolling motors. It delivers maximum thrust of 30 pounds, sufficient to adequately propel craft of up to 1,500 pounds or 12 feet in length. It has a 12-volt power system and a 30-inch composite shaft. Control is administered via a six-inch telescoping handle. There are five forward speeds and three reverse speeds. Reviewers find the Endura C2 30 to be reliable, quiet, and well-built. As road-bound vehicles become more and more eco-friendly, watercrafts are following suit. Designed to operate without the need for fuel, electric pontoon boats provide an option for boating enthusiasts who want something a little more eco-friendly. And because some local jurisdictions have banned fuel engines all together, electric pontoon boats might be the only option for some people.

The solution? A deep-cycle battery installed specifically for your trolling motor. Especially if you are going to have a high voltage trolling motor, or you plan to use it for hours and hours during a day of fishing, you might even want to consider having multiple deep-cycle batteries on your boat to keep your trolling motor running.
The good news is that, yes, you can, indeed put a trolling motor onto a pontoon boat. As long as you select the right shaft length and thrust (minimum 52 inches length and 55 lbs thrust), you should be good to go!
Trolling motors can be critical in your ability to lure in fish without scaring them away, and for staying on them. That being said, while a trolling motor can make a huge difference in your fishing day, it’s important to make sure you’re getting the right motor for your boat.
