Let's start with what kind of auction this is. You can hit the " Buy It Now Option " and own this very nice vessel. You are, however, committing to purchase it if you do. Or, you can make an offer that I can take into consideration. I will consider realistic offers, but not low ball offers, so please do not waste your time or mine. I also do not want to trade for anything else, or take partial trades of any kind. I do not need any more boats, cars, trucks, etc. Please don't ask. This is a very nice 3 owner trawler. Always fresh water and always moored in a covered dock. It only has 900 original hours on the single Ford Lehman 6 cylinder diesel engine. These engines can go 30,000 hours before reconditioning, so it is barely broken in. Gets great gas mileage and has a 1,000 mile range on the 300 gallons of fuel she carries. ( tanks are full right now ) 1985 was the first year of the Marine Trader's cabin to deck redesign. Boats previous to 1985 had teak deck problems that the newer design eliminated. All of the outside teak, and there is a lot of it, is in very solid shape. The interior is loaded with teak also, and it is pristine. All of the cushions have original coverings and they are in great shape. Two private state rooms, with a full head in each. There are depth sounders and marine radios at both driving stations, but, since it has always been in Missouri, there is no ocean going navigational items such as sonar, GPS, radar, etc. Same with a generator and marine A/C. No need for those by us, so it was not ordered with either of them. I did add a new window A/C to use dock side. It does have an electric windlass. This vessel is ready for a trip up or down the Mississippi River, or any other inland connecting river to get her to your area. It is currently located in a marina on the Mississippi River near Alton Illinois. The slip it is in can be taken over by the new owner. This vessel is Documented with the USA. The most used and trusted vessel valuation guide is the BUC books. It has this vessel valued at close to $50,000. I am well below BUC value for a quick sale. Please do not bid on this boat unless you are serious about buying it and have researched a way of getting it to you. I will not deliver it or arrange shipping across land. Call with any questions BEFORE hitting the buy it now or making an offer. I will give honest and complete answers to all questions I can answer. Thanks and have a great day, Dave 314-732-592five. more

Trawlers with full-displacement hulls are for yachtsmen that place a high value on distance, comfort, and safety over speed. Trawlers typically have deeper drafts (with a skeg or keel deeper than the propellers so that the running gear and propellers aren't damaged if the hull touches the bottom). [links]

Since they’re meant for those long jaunts they also have the accommodations you need to remain comfortable when aboard for days or even weeks at a time. Depending on a trawlers’ size it may have a private stateroom or multiple staterooms, enclosed heads, full galleys, and lots of stowage. Extensive fuel capacity and large water tanks are also common traits which are needed for long-distance voyaging. And even though they’re not often needed in modern times, many larger trawlers have masts and booms (which were used for loading supplies and unloading the catch or cargo, in the old days) which gives them an unmistakable look.

The popular Ranger Tugs R-23 is powered by a 200 HP Yamaha outboard. The first thing you will notice when looking at the new R-23 is the dramatic, curved windshield and visor, which is emphasized by several overhead skylights. There is no shortage of light or visibility onboard the R-23, which incorporates four opening roof hatches, sliding side windows, and an opening glass bulkhead, providing a very open and airy feeling inside and out. Opening portlights also allow for a nice cross breeze in the cabin. The forward cabin on the R-23 has plenty of room for sitting around the teak table, separate sleeping for two or sleeping two together with the filler-cushion. The mid berth is great for kids or storage, and the dinette converts to a sleeper as the third berth. The well-appointed galley on the R-23 is standard with refrigerator/freezer, cooktop, and microwave. The forward head includes a marine toilet with holding tank, shower, sink, and mirror. The Ranger Tugs R-23 is standard with Garmin 942xsv GPS chartplotter with sonar and is available with optional xHD radar. VHF to stay in touch, illuminated compass, cabin night light, cockpit and exterior side trail lighting, and our patented built-in safety trailering lights (brake, turn, and reverse) are all standard equipment making the R-23 ready to cruise. The cockpit on the R-23 is built to fish and ready to entertain with standard rod holders, optional downrigger pads & outlets, and a folding double seat. The R-23 is perfect for overnighting or extended cruises. It incorporates many of the same amenities as a larger cruising yacht that until now were not offered on a boat of her size and price point. Whether you are new to boating or a seasoned captain, the R-23 is the perfect boat for your next adventure. [links]

Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE) has expanded the Nordhavn line with the addition of the Nordhavn 96. This new design looks to serve as a stepping stone between the large cruiser and megayacht categories. For the enthusiast who is seeking megayacht-like style and features in a boat that is still able to be managed with no – or minimal – crew, the Nordhavn 96 is the ideal solution. She is based on the hull of the very successful Nordhavn 86, and incorporates a 10-foot cockpit extension that allows for space bumps in several areas of the boat including below decks in the crew area and lazarette; at main deck level in the cockpit and saloon; on the pilothouse deck with a larger sky lounge or upper master stateroom (depending on layout); and an even more capacious fly bridge. Fuel capacity remains the same, although slight gains in fuel burn are likely due to the N96’s longer water line. Displacement also stays virtually the same. “It is a fairly easy procedure to extend the molds,” says Jeff Leishman, PAE’s Chief of Design. And it is an efficient way to give a customer the additional space they are seeking without the drastic cost of building an entirely new hull. Nordhavn has employed this method of thinking with several of its other models including the N52 (based on the N47 hull), the N60 and 63 (based on the N55 hull), the N68 (based on the N64 hull) and the N76 (based on the N72 hull), and the approach has been a hugely successful one. The stretched out models proved themselves to be so advantageous that, as a result, they have become more popular than their predecessors. And contrary to published reports, there is zero downside to adding hull extensions. Says Leishman: “These types of modifications have actually demonstrated to enhance performance.” here

The Ranger Tugs R27 has been called one of the cleverest designs on the water because the builder managed to fit the necessities and many of the comforts of a larger cruising yacht into a trailerable package, while maintaining a comfortable ride. Yes it’s true, this trawler is trailerable; just look at the first picture in our Boat Towing Guide, and you’ll see that it can even be hauled by a relatively modest tow vehicle. Ranger Tugs is experienced at building small-but-capable boats, as we've seen in past models like the R31. The R27 is even smaller, though, (with an 8’6” beam and 27’1” LOA) perfect for a simple sunset jaunt through the harbor or overnight cruising. The bottom design is what you might expect in a semi-displacement vessel of this type, which is more displacement than planing boat. The hull has a keel that starts about a third of the way back from the bow, and then bulges slightly in the bottom to allow the Yanmar diesel to be placed lower in the hull, which makes the shaft angle only six degrees. While the boat can run in the high teens at WOT, if you throttle back to 13 or 15 knots, you could get a range on the order of 200 miles—which means you can travel for two eight-hour days between fuel stops. (Fuel capacity is 100 gallons.) Although it’s compact, engineers managed to free up 50 square feet of deck space aft. Cruising features include a V-berth and a midship berth, galley, dinette and head. This is one of the least expensive trawlers with such capabilities. Here’s a trawler under 40 feet (39’9” LOA, 14’ 6” beam) that has impressive cruising credentials. The Nordhavn has established itself as one of the most capable ships in its size range with both a circumnavigation and an Atlantic crossing under its waterline. And the owners of this salty trawler are among the most serious cruisers you’ll meet. The N40 is the smallest model in the Nordhavn fleet of ocean-crossing motor vessels, so it has true offshore pedigree. It features a full displacement hull, a 900-gallon fuel capacity and range of 2,400 nautical miles at seven knots. Then there’s the seakeeping ability. The high bow is buoyant and makes for a dry ride, while a forefoot beneath the surface eliminates pounding. To further improve comfort for passengers, order a Seakeeper gyro-stabilization system which will minimize rocking and rolling in beam seas. The ride is just one benefit of the Nordhavn. So too is the way the builder engineered the layout to provide a number of social and private spaces, and for accommodations, there are two private cabins. more
