Manuals & Handbooks
Having access to the right information is crucial and could make all the difference when it comes to providing safe, correct handling and accurate service. In the Volvo Penta database you can search for and download operator manuals, service protocols and other information related to your engine. You can also find workshop manuals available for purchase in printed versions. [links]
The serial number is a unique identifier for your product and is the key to efficient servicing and correct ordering of parts. It can be found on decals and/or plates on the product. However, the appearance and location may differ depending on model and year of manufacture. Refer to your operators manual to find the location of your serial number.
Here is the closed cooling system.
Are you sure you have an F on your model number? That would indicate you have closed cooling, and from the looks of your thermostat and housing, you don't have closed cooling.
Your picture worked fine. The way it is in the picture is correct, the thermostat does not go in the manifold.
Yes, the part number is 3831426, and it has a rubber sealing ring around the outside and appears to be designed to fit into the machined groove in the intake manifold so it would be under the t'stat housing. The one that is in the boat, I am going to attempt to send a photo, is installed up inside the housing. I am reluctatnt to remove the old one until I have a new one in my hand. Thanks.

Do you guys blow off the plug areas with compressed air before you pull the plugs? I'm always paranoid about the grit that accumulates around the plug opening falling into the cylinder when I put the new plug in.
Did mine when I bought it (used) cuz I had no idea how much wear was on them. Was a total PITA to get to them. I've since learned that the boat only had about 80 hours on it when I bought it, so that explains why they looked like new. [links]
Pull mine every spring after first start.
Clean then and check the gap.
I go 2 or 3 seasons on them on average.
Mine are a dream to get to as well (3 liter).
If the parts are not worn why replace them? [links]
2001 Glastron GX 205 A 2001 Glastron GX 205SF fish and ski with Volvo Penta 5.0 GL SX 220 hp I/0 and matching tandem trailer. Only 143.5 hours on the motor. Capable of 50+ mph. Handles 6-8 adults comfortably. It is a great family boat and never failed to start. I have owned this boat since 2008 and to the best of my knowledge it has never been in salt water. It has been kept indoors in Brenham, Tx near Somerville Lake. There is a boat repair shop on site who performs all of my annual maintenance including getting the boat ready for the season and making sure it gets winterized. The boat has been well maintained and has a fresh service including a new impeller and 2 new batteries. Only the radio doesn't work. A depth finder, fish finder, anchor, paddle, life jackets, trolling motor, skis, wakeboard, all ropes and rubber bumpers are included. The boat is in good condition considering its age and the trailer is in good condition having just passed state inspection. My family had a lot of fun on this boat but the kids are grown so it doesn't get used any more. I own the boat so the title is clear. The price is $11,950. Reasonable offers considered. 2003 Glastron GX 205 Incoming trade. V-8 Power and Trailer. The Glastron GX 205 puts more than enough power at your fingertips, and its excellent handling makes that power easy to wield. However, the 205 is more than just a powerhouse; it's also the archetype for getting every detail just right. Whenever a boat starts with Genmar's Virtual Engineered Composites (VEC) technology as its foundation, it already has a good leg up on comparable models. It's like being born into royalty. The Glastron GX 205 makes good use of the VEC technology, but it also crams a lot of great features into its just-under-20-foot hull. We were impressed by the boat's high-energy attitude and its spare-nothing fit and finish. Although a 190 hp 4.3L MerCruiser stern drive is standard power on the GX 205, our test boat had the more powerful 5.0L Volvo Penta (available in 220 or 270 hp). We were more than satisfied with the 5.0L, but we wouldn't recommend going any lower in power. If speed is an important factor to you, you can probably squeeze an extra 5 or 6 mph of top-end speed from the GX 205 if you further upgraded to one of the available 5.7L engines, but we were happy with the top speed of our test boat: 50.3 mph (at 4,800 rpm). We doubt that the more powerful engines would affect cruising speed as significantly, and that's the speed you'll probably be traveling most of the time, anyway. Cruising speed for us was around 30.5 mph (at 3,000 rpm). There was a light chop when we tested the boat out of Tampa Bay, Florida, and our test boat's fuel tank was 3/8 full when we clocked our speeds. We had two adults on board; however, the boat has a maximum capacity of 10 people (or 1,475 lbs.). The first word we thought of to describe the GX 205's ride was "spunky." The boat jumped to plane in just 4 seconds. The GX 205 has a low bow, so we always had good visibility, even when getting on plane. Moreover, the boat offered tight, flat turns at wide-open throttle. It has a tendency to wander at the 1,000 rpms, but that wasn't a big deal. - Incoming Trade more
