The Bentry Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine Management states that the first LH system on a Volvo was LH 1 and then LH 2 appeared in 1984 which doesn't really work since there were definite differences between the first 1982 version and the 1983 version. In this case, they may be referring to the digit after the decimal i.e. 2.1 & 2.2 but that still doesn't account for the 1982 version that was significantly different. here
There are 4 Variations of Bosch LH-Jetronic on Volvo 240 models.
No matter the version nomenclature, this was the first one that appears on a Volvo. [links]
The easiest way to tell is to look at the MAF sensor.
There seems to be a lot of dissagreement on what the version number is on this early system. Some people say it is version 1.0 others say it is 2.0 and yet others say 1983-1984 is version 2.0. If you consider that this is the first generation of LH on a Volvo, the sure, it's version "1". Regardless, cars with this fuel system were quite rare in the USA.
