“It is part of my ship’s articles: I want every crew member to read it before they step on board! Not just because it is packed with tips for both captain and crew, but also because it gives a clear insight in the minds of hitch sailors. This is more than a ‘if-you-can-dream-it-you-can-do-it/-if-you-just-put-your-mind-to-it-it-will-happen” [links]

Ever dreamed of ditching the routine of everyday life and sailing around the world, waited on hand and foot, for a few months at a time? (Us, too.) But as around-the-world cruises grow in popularity, they also bring a lot of questions—from planning and packing to the truth of whether that ship will feel too small after a week. We spoke to six people who’ve taken not one, but several, world cruises on top-rated cruise lines to share what’s it really like to spend months at a time on the high seas.

"We tell people always sail east to west; that way, you’re setting the clock back, not forward, an hour. It's much more restful. When you have to keep putting the clock forward, people get tired." —L.W. [links]

"The difference between a short cruise and a world cruise is night and day, storm and calm, fleeting thought and thoughtfulness. With an extended cruise you absorb the lifestyle of life at sea; with the great advantage of having a crew and staff that treats you like royalty. I enter the bar in the evening, in no time my favorite song is being played, my favorite drinks sit before me. I go to dinner and my favorite table is waiting for me, and my waiter has already served the iced water with lemon just as I like it." —Phyllis Taylor [links]

The welcome center is a wonderful place to explore in its own rite, either before or after an excursion. The space is a former pulp mill renovated into a modern facility with Wi-Fi, restrooms designed out of train cars, and a host of artisanal shops and quick bites. There’s also a bit of history and culture to explore here and, on the inaugural visit by Norwegian Encore, the local tribe shared a blessing and cultural performance celebrating the new facility. more

Since NCL is running 100% vaccinated cruises, it shouldn’t be a surprise the popular cruise buffet is not only available but most definitely thriving on this ship. The Garden Café buffet offers rotating menus breakfast through late night, making it an ideal venue to pop in for an unscheduled meal or snack. Here there is also unlimited coffee, tea, water and non-carbonated beverages at all hours of the day. And every family member can find their own buffet interests with a pasta bar, carving station, barbeque and pizza favorites, as well as international options ranging from Italian to Indian. here
