Today, we most often get to see Cullinan III and Cullinan IV. Queen Elizabeth II loves to wear them together as a brooch. You can also see members of the royal family wearing smaller Cullinan diamonds on special occasions. [links]

After more than 100 years, there’s no larger or more impressive diamond than the famous Cullinan. It’s incredible to think that a mine supervisor discovered it merely by accident. If it hadn’t been for him, the Cullinan diamond would probably still be lying under the ground, as it did for more than a billion years. [links]

Can you imagine being given the task to split the world’s largest diamond? Imagine how Joseph Asscher must have felt. He spent weeks thinking about the best way to do it. Then, he spent days preparing his equipment. The first attempt was a disaster. The Cullinan diamond was so strong that the knife broke, and the diamond remained unchanged. more

We know the Cullinan Diamond today best as the nine different gems it created, which are scattered throughout the British royal collection. But once upon a time, it was one giant diamond – which means I'm counting the whole lot as Queen Elizabeth’s number one diamond.

The Cullinan Diamond – named for the owner of the mine, Thomas Cullinan – was a massive 3,106 carats in its uncut state. It weighed about 1 1/3 pounds and measured just under 4 inches long, over 2 inches wide, and more than 2.5 inches high. And if that’s not enough, many experts believe that it’s actually only a portion of a larger diamond which has never been found, indicated by the stone having one flat side. more

She owned so many that OP got them all mixed up. She had some really high grade stuff. I remember reading she owned a pearl necklace that belonged to Marie Antoinette or some french dame from the revolution and one of her dogs chewed it up. A really big honking teardrop shape pearl. Her only comment was it was worth more now because people would say the Elizabeth Taylor's dog had done the damage. She had a great sense of history for such a vulgar being, bless her heart.
