Summer is in full swing!

For all of you wine lovers I've made a new connection with Crow Vineyard , Winery and Farm Stay Bed and Breakfast in Kennedysville. If you are arriving from the north you will drive past the winery located just off Rt. 213. It makes a great gift!

Full Day Charters - $950/ boat

Full day charters will begin at 10am and return to the dock at 5pm. You can decide the itinerary, we can sail all day or choose to anchor at one of the many beaches were you can swim and explore.

Mini cruise - Choose a destination such a Baltimore, Annapolis, etc. and we plan the trip around sailing there and spending a couple of hours in port and then returning all in the same day. Or I may be able to stage the boat there and then we can leave and return to your port of choice. Fee negotiated based on itinerary.

Expand Your Horizons, Do an overnighter
Are you jealous when you meet transients from those not so far off places? Its easy to dream about sailing around the world, but sailing around the bay doesn't have to take 3 months of vacation. The Chesapeake Bay is 160 NM long, a distance that most cruisers can cover in 30 hours. If you were in Havre de Grace you could leave today at noon and be having dinner in Norfolk tomorrow. Cape May to Block Island is 200 NM, 36 hours conservatively.

Yours - $400/4 hours (additional fees may apply based on your boats location)

Have a new boat, recently moved up in size, or just need to build more confidence? If we were talking about golf you probably wouldn't hesitate to take a lesson or two. It's important to understand that there is no substitute for time on the water. When we see other captains who can back down a long fairway and turn into a slip without touching a piling or wonder why we are healing more than the other boats that are going faster the answer can almost always be experience. It is not reasonable to think that you will become proficient by using your boat once a month or by repetitively making the same mistakes. Together we will analyze your personal situation, discuss slip/dockage, getting underway and returning to the dock, and of course sailing. We can also talk about equipment selection to make your experience more fulfilling, much of the time will be determined by you and what you want to cover. The ultimate goal is to increase your confidence and get you out on the water more often.

All sailboat charters are for a maximum of 6 guests and include non alcoholic beverages and snacks unless otherwise noted. You may bring your own food and drink. Anyone who decides to take anti-motion sickness medication should do so per the instructions, this usually requires taking several hours before coming aboard. During the warmer months of summer you may wish to take a dip or just get wet while sitting on the rail, so be prepared. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats will make your experience more enjoyable. You are welcome to bring music via CD or IPOD.

“ Jewish rats ,” Schiendick said, sneering at Josef and the other kids. Many of them looked at their shoes, and even Josef looked away, trying not to draw the big man’s attention. Josef clenched his fists, and his ears burned hot with frustration and embarrassment at his helplessness. [links]

The boats and ships in the story represent the characters’ hope and the potential to build a new life in a new country. Each of the three protagonists and their families take a journey by boat. For Josef , the St. Louis gives its Jewish passengers hope that they can escape Nazi Germany and find refuge in Cuba. Even though they are eventually turned back to Europe, they are still able to be resettled in new countries so that they can attempt to avoid death at the hands of the Nazis. For Isabel , the boat that she and her family take is the only option for them to escape Cuba, and the boat both literally and figuratively keeps their hopes afloat as they journey to Miami. Although a hole in the boat and a severe storm flood the boat with water , dashing their hopes and putting their lives at risk, Isabel and her companions work tirelessly to bail the water out and continue on their journey. This simple act of perseverance to save their boat embodies all of the uncontrollable obstacles they must overcome to reach the U.S. Mahmoud also takes a journey by boat from Turkey to Greece, and when his boat capsizes and he is thrown into the water, it reinforces the idea that he has lost all hope. But when another dinghy comes along and Mahmoud is able to convince the people on board to take his infant sister, Hana , it provides another spark of hope, given that this is likely Hana’s only chance to survive at all, let alone to achieve a better life. The boats in the story are continuously placed in contrast with the ocean, which often correlates to the characters’ despair. more

She had never been able to count clave , but she had always assumed it would come to her eventually. That the rhythm of her homeland would one day whisper its secrets to her soul. But would she ever hear it now? Like trading her trumpet, had she swapped the one thing that was really hers—her music—for the chance to keep her family together? [links]

The Cobalt Linda was driving at the time of the collision

The three-storey, 9,800-square-foot mega-chalet, painted in soft grey with white trim, perches high on a promontory of Canadian Shield, looming imperiously over 345 metres of rocky, pine-forested shoreline. Inside are 10 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and a turreted staircase winding up to a master suite with ensuite and a private deck. In the great room, a pink granite fireplace soars 32 feet to the pine ceiling. The furnishings are suitably grand, with “an antique in just about every room,” as Linda once boasted to a National Post reporter. Off the main cottage is a broadcast room from which Kevin beams in for newscast cameos and Zoom calls, and, nestled in the woods, an artist’s shed, where he paints. Down at the water, the boathouse, painted grey and white to match the main cottage, is big enough to accommodate a large family but is in fact occupied by an ever-expanding collection of pricey water toys, including—at least until one calamitous, heartbreaking day last August—an 18-foot Cobalt bowrider.

Last August, Linda and Kevin O’Leary were boating home from a dinner party in Muskoka when their Cobalt bowrider collided with a pontoon boat full of stargazers, killing two people. The accident triggered a swirl of legal manoeuvring, PR gamesmanship, personal grudges and cottage-country gossip. What really happened that night?
