In the running are: Logan's four dysfunctional children — dimwitted libertine Connor (Alan Ruck), power-hungry Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Sad Clown Roman (Kieran Culkin) and headstrong daughter Siobhan, a.k.a. "Shiv" (Sarah Snook) — as well as his third wife Marcia (Hiam Abbass), sycophantic son-in-law Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) and bumbling grandnephew Greg (Nicholas Braun).
A 2018 satirical comedy-drama of the Eat the Rich persuasion, airing on HBO and created by writer Jesse Armstrong of Peep Show fame. The show focuses on media baron Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his family's struggle to divide his massive conglomerate, Waystar-Royco, among themselves.
Further complicating the Succession Crisis is the fact that the Roy family's massive wealth has made them all self-absorbed and divorced from reality, which inevitably poisons their relationships with each other and the world around them. here
Just look at the finale, which aside from a long-in-the-works blow-up between Shiv and Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) was completely driven by the reveal of Logan’s sacrifice: How many signs were there that he would choose Kendall? Setting aside what we knew before boarding Conner’s nice-smelling Venetian yacht, there’s Logan’s rejection of Kendall’s idea to go make a deal with Stewy (Arian Moayed). Then there’s Logan’s dismissal of Kendall’s partner for the trip, Naomi (Annabelle Dexter-Jones), because he can’t have her around once Kendall hears the bad news. Throw in the dinner scene where every name gets put on the list except Kendall’s — which is either foreshadowing by omission for the audience, or an acknowledgement by everyone present that Kendall was the most likely choice, and they simply couldn’t bring themselves to say it — and it’s becoming unavoidable. more
But was it a mistake for Armstrong to telegraph what could be considered a twist ending? Of course not. For all the fun to be had trying to predict the erratic behavior of eccentric billionaires, “Succession” isn’t a show built on twists. It’s built on tension. [links]
But where the finale thrived was in the same arena the season consistently dominated: Even when the expected happened — Shiv (Sarah Snook) was denied the throne, Rhea (Holly Hunter) swooped in for crown, and, ultimately, Kendall stood up to his father — the impact was tremendous. Armstrong laid out the pieces well enough to reward those paying close attention and shock those with more casual viewing habits, but more importantly, he put characters first, twists second, and never betrayed the story he’s telling. It all fit into place so perfectly, and when you can make those pieces click while investing in more than just the puzzle (“Westworld,” take note), the resulting satisfaction is immense. more
Armstrong then starts dropping more obvious indicators toward the inevitable. He tells Kendall “What I oughta do, I don’t want to do,” and then meets with Shiv where they discuss their previously agreed upon route: Kendall gets the axe. He has to take the fall for the company, before the shareholders’ meeting, and they both know it. here
On a mission to woo the Pierces, the family that owns a rival media group known for its dedication to chasing the truth and winning Pulitzers (the Succession-verse Sulzbergers to the Roys’ Murdochs?), the Roy clan helicopter out to the Pierces’ WASP-y estate for a weekend of smarming and charming. Dinner, a feast made by a staff of at least three is served with a side of awkward small talk (Roman’s girlfriend Tabitha: “We’re not planning to have a baby because that would require us having sex.”) and the implicit sense of purpose driving the entire visit. The Roys want to acquire the Pierces’ PGM, and the Pierces want the billions that the Roys are offering, but neither side wants to come off as too desperate. here
Food: A decent-enough-looking array of breakfast foods like croissants and smoothies, but who can muster up an appetite when there are colleagues to throw under the bus? ★★☆☆
Food: Instead of a 48-ounce T-bone steak with truffle fries, Caroline dishes up that classic combination of pigeon, potatoes, and wine. ★☆☆☆
Power plays and money moves: Due to a mix up with teleprompter and the underhanded tattletale instincts of snitch Connor, Logan takes this public event as an opportunity to fuck over his heir apparent Kendall. “I see you,” Logan hisses privately to his son after announcing in a speech that he would not be retiring. “I spied you fucking out, son, don’t ever do that to me again.” This particular battle may have been waged just in Logan’s head, but it kicks off a struggle between father and son that impacts the entire arc of Succession. ★★★★
Food: Chicken so good, Tom just had to steal a bite. ★★☆☆

Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California. Behind her older brother, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, Lilibet is eighth in line to the throne.
Buckingham Palace took 52 days to update the website detailing the line of succession. Chris Ship, the royal editor for ITV, had released an episode of his "Royal Rota" podcast on Friday calling attention to Lilibet's absence.
"They must have done it before. They did it for Archie. Clearly they did it for Louis when he was born," he said. "So where's Lilibet? I can forgive them a week or two, but a month?"
