Most people have heard of a blown fuse. Usually, this happens at your house. Maybe you have too many things plugged in and it blows a fuse. Or, your air conditioner is working on overdrive and blows a fuse. All you have to do is reset the fuse or flip the main breaker. When it comes to your car, it’s not so easy. Your fuse may blow because you have too many signals going at one time. Or, the fuse can actually melt if the energy level gets too high. If your fuse is blown, you will need to replace it. The good news is, new fuses aren’t all that expensive. And, it’s not that hard to do. [links]

There is a thing in your turn signal system called a flasher module. This is what sends the power from the battery to your turn signal system. If this breaks, no power is going to get to your turn signal. Remember we said earlier that your turn signal system is connected to a bunch of other systems. They may all blow at one time. This module is connected to your fuse through a piece of lead. If this lead breaks or is damaged, it will not work. This isn’t something you can really fix yourself. You’ll need to take it to your local mechanic to get fixed. [links]

If your turn signals don’t work, you can cause an accident. Not only will this cause injuries, but it can also cause a lot of damage to your car. To avoid this, it’s important to make sure your turn signals are working.

The turn signal switch is the device near your steering wheel that you use to turn your signals on and off. If they can’t send a signal to let the computer know to turn the signals on, then it won’t work. It could be the wiring or the switch. If the switch is just getting stuck, you may be able to fix it. However, if it’s something more than that, you need to go see a professional. [links]

In order to replace your bulbs, you had to access the back of the turn signal housings. Also in this location, you'll find the plugs that connect your tail lights and front turn signals to the car's electrical system. Unplug these and plug them back in one at a time. Sometimes just the act of unplugging and replugging can renew the connection and solve your issue. Don't be surprised if one of the plugs that you didn't think was affecting the turn signal system turns out to be the cause of your problem. Turn signals are tricky like that. [links]

If you've replaced your turn signal relay and checked to be sure all of your turn signal bulbs are working but still find that you have no working turn signals, you'll have to get down to some semi-serious electrical troubleshooting. Prepare yourself, because this can get a little frustrating. Tracking down a loose wire or a ground that isn't grounding can be a pain in the neck. But let's get to it. [links]

Troubleshooting your turn signals isn't tough. If your turn signals have stopped working, it'll be doing one of these things: blinking rapidly, coming on without blinking, or nothing at all.

That's it! You're back to blinking, and back to being a safe car on the road. [links]

The good news is that all of these symptoms point to two possible issues, a bad turn signal relay or a dead bulb.

Light bulbs die – eventually, they all do. Turn signal light bulbs should last for at least a few years. Most people will have their turn signal lights last for the life of the car. It all depends on how much you drive and how often you use your turn signals. Since these bulbs are pretty cheap, it’s a good idea to replace them and see if it solves the problem. If it does, great. If not, then you need to look a bit further. The problem could be a bit more complicated. here

What a lot of people don’t realize is that your turn signal system is connected to a lot of other systems in your car. For example, your turn signals are connected to the same wirings as your brake lights, warning lights and parking lights.

Step 1 - Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position, (do not start the engine) this will power up the electrical system for testing.

Step 4 - When a turn signal switch fails the system will short or go "open" causing the blinker not to operate. Use a test light to test input and output power circuits using a wiring schematic. Learn more - Find a wiring diagram in Google Images. here

Step 2 - Locate the power distribution center (PDC) or fuse panel to check all system fuses. Learn more - To locate the fuse consult the owner's manual or search Google Images.

What I have looked at: 1. Checked all the fuses, visually pulled them all, under dash and under the hood 2. Cleaned the battery posts 3. Wiggled the turn signal switch around Is there anyway to get a wiring schematic of this car for free?

These things don't work with engine running: 1. Turn signals lights and no clicking in car 2. Four way flashers lights no clicking in car 3. Brake lights on the tail lights (The middle light at the bottom of the rear window does lights up when the brake is depressed.)
4. The turn signals were intermittently working before this problem showed up like a few weeks before the problem. I can't remember exactly what it was but the turn signal clicking in the car was slow or fast or different someway. I assumed I had a bad turn signal light. [links]

There is a lighting control module that sound like it may have gone out, here is a wiring diagram for the blinkers that you can use for some testing and a guide to show you how. Here is the location of the lighting module so you can change it out:

Both turn signals don't work. No turn signal lights on dash or outside front or rear. The left multi switch lever on steering column operates turn signals, emergency warning flashers, wipers and high beams. Wipers, emergency warning flasher, and high beams all work fine from this l same ever, but not either turn signal. Fuse for turn signals checks out okay. Rear back up and brake lights work fine.
Is there a separate flashing unit for turn signals on this car that might be out and if so, where is it on this car? Is the problem the turn signal multi switch, even though other functions for this switch work well?

These things do work: 1. Head lights, tail lights, parking lights 2. All auxillary stuff in the car [links]
