Now if we are on river water. water that is like a mirror with absolutely no chop (is that what its called?). with 2 people in the boat it handles fine and does not get unsafe at all. no matter where the trim is. more
Bouncing up and down in the front?
But the trim seems to do relatively little. the water is as calm as you see in the video and the boat can get slapping against the water in the front pretty hard. It scares my passengers, and it's like we are trying to jump the waves, and than like I said even the small amount of chop on the water will mess with the boat and make us start bouncing up and down in the front. here
Now with 4 people on the boat and in calm but a lil choppy waters, my boat will start just bouncing up and down in the front. If someone is sitting up front ( I know bad idea), they have to hold themselves down so they do not get ejected from the boat. here

A drift boat on the water is a beautiful sight to see. Most drift boats are expensive boats that look almost like works of art and are truly majestic on the water. So you may be surprised to learn that some people use their drift boats through rapids and row them through tight rocky canons where the slightest mistake means no more boat. But this is just one of the strange uses of a drift boat. Let’s look at all of them.
Its seaworthy nature and flat bottom hull meant the ocean dory was well suited for use in the Mackenzie and Rouge rivers where both whitewater and shallows abound. When it evolved into the drift boat it was even more suited to these waters. here
Drift boats are excellent rowboats for maneuvering through turbulent whitewater. They are incredibly responsive to even the smallest movement of an oar. here
So having evolved from the dory boat the drift boat is a natural fishing vessel.

While porpoising may occur with any powered watercraft, it’s far more common in boats with inboard/outboard or propeller-driven outboard motors. If your boat falls under one of these two categories, be prepared to adjust the trim when operating at high speeds.
Does your boat ‘bounce’ when you reach a certain speed on the water? Known as porpoising, this phenomenon typically occurs when a boat is traveling at a high rate of space with the incorrect trim setting. Normally, porpoising is prevented by making the necessary trim adjustments. If the setting is wrong, however, or the trim is damaged/malfunctioning, the boat may continue to bounce up and down in a characteristic porpoise-like motion.
Stopping The Porpoising Effect here
Allowing a boat to porpoise is a serious hazard that can leave both the captain and his or her passengers at risk for injury. There have been countless injuries reported due to severe porpoising, so don’t overlook this element with your boat. here
Porpoising is the result of the motor’s outdrive pushing the boat upwards, essentially boosting it out of the water – albeit for a short period of time. Once the boat comes back down, the outdrive will once again push it back out of the water. This cycle will continue to repeat until either the boat’s speed is reduced or the trim is fixed.
So, what’s the best approach to fixing a boat’s porpoising effect? Unless you want to reduce your speed, you must adjust the trim to prevent this effect from occurring. Access the trim controls on your boat and gradually lower it until the boat is no longer bouncing out of the water. It’s important to note that lowering your trim too low will result in a loss of speed, which is something most people want to avoid; therefore, you should lower it just slightly until you find a happy medium in which you maintain your speed but no longer experience the porpoising effect. more
