It takes a lot of sugar to lock up an engine. Been there and done it. It was my old junker that I wanted to kill. Placed a pound of sugar in 5 gal. of gas. Ran the gas out while driving around the fields. The only thing that happened was the sweet smell of cotton candy. So we poured sugar down through the carb. She died and never started again. Could not drive the pistons out with a sledge hammer.

Valve grinding compound sounds good.

So now, we will help you by listing down things that are proven to ruin a car’s engine by pouring it into the car’s gas tank. Here we go.

If there is fuel left in the gas tank, the vehicle will not run anymore. If you leave the bleach inside the fuel system for too long, it will cause corrosion and rust in many engine components. Bleach has chlorine, and one thing you must know about chlorine is that they are a highly corrosive oxidizer. more

If you put gallons of bleach into a car’s gas tank, the car may run at first. If there is still fuel left in the vehicle, that fuel can still run the vehicle. However, if there will be no fuel left in the gas tank and the only available liquid is bleach, it will cause several and severe damages to the vehicle. more

5. Diesel in a car’s gas tank that required unleaded fuel – This accident happen occasionally because gas station (petrol station) always have diesel and unleaded fuel pump. If Diesel runs into the engine’s cylinder, the spark plugs would still fire but nothing will happen and the engine will never start. This is because diesel fuel doesn’t evaporate as well as unleaded fuel. If you have accidentally put diesel fuel into car that requires unleaded fuel only, drain all the diesel fuel and refill it with gasoline. Crank the engine for few minutes until the diesel is fully out from the fuel lines and the injectors. The car will start and run fine, it will not bring any damage. here

Here is the list of things that you can put into a car’s gas tank to ruin the engine and the result of what will happen to the engine. This list is for everyone to avoid putting things that can ruin the car engine into the gas tank. DO NOT DO THIS AS A PRANK TO ANY CARS. 4. Sugar – Some research said sugar doesn’t dissolve in gasoline and it sinks to the bottom of gas tank. It will stop by fuel filter even it travel through the fuel pipe. However, fuel filter can’t stop 100% of the sugar and if it go into the engine, the answer is YES, it will ruin it. here

For Bleach, if it has ran into the engine, the car would have tow to a mechanic for full overhaul and an engine replacement if it is very serious. Do not start the car if cigarette butts, molasses, honey, pancake syrup, sugar, or sticky liquid, or anything similar run into the gas tank. Tow the car to the nearest workshop and get a mechanic to remove it all from the gas tank. Be prepared to replace a new fuel tank in the worst case.

7. Urine or Pee – It may not ruin the engine but it will damage the fuel filter. Fuel filter will stop anything that is not fuel and it could be spoilt by urine or pee.

If you are just mischievous and does not really want to destroy the engine, use sugar or any other sweet, sticky liquid. Sugar in a gas tank is an urban legend and it will clog up the fuel filter, just like other sticky sweet liquids such as honey, molasses, waffle syrup, pancake syrup, and similar things. more

Sugar is a scourge to car engines because it doesn’t dissolve in gasoline. This means sugar poured into a gas tank will get sucked into the fuel lines and begin clogging up a vital part or parts of your engine’s fuel system. here

Baking soda’ is otherwise known as ‘bicarbonate of soda’, or ‘sodium bicrbonte’. It might dissolve if shook up, but won’t burn when in solution with gasoline. It will blend with any of the water in the tank and get expelled that way, when the next fillup churns up the bottom sludge.

Salt will not dissolve in gasoline but it will in any water in the tank. Then it will slowly corrode the bottom of the tank. … Salt (or sugar) doesn’t disolve in gasoline. Therefore it could get past the fuel filter and into the cylinders, thus scratching the cylinder walls and ruining the piston rings.
